Impromptu Trip to New Orleans
Casual Streetwear in the Big Easy
Its summer, so you know what that means; impromptu trips, gratuitous excess, and an opportunity to try some new summer style. This recent weekend trip to New Orleans was one of those last-minute opportunities that come up where the stars aligned. I seized that chance and figured once I got there I’d hit the streets to see what the city has to offer.
In a city so unique, I dived into a look with a statement piece, the yellow dad hat. Balancing that pop of color with a more grounded black and white striped tee and black denim was on par for a day wandering about the characterful city.

Zara Black Denim Jeans
Aldo Vilfredo Midnight Black
There are a lot of elements of this look that I like a lot. I love these tee shirts that Urban Outfitters has been selling. The short sleeves are cropped perfectly for my arms and the curved hem adds a nice touch that lets everyone know that this ain’t no regular tee. Now, the dad hat. Right, I’ll just flat-out put this out there, I hate hats. I never really wear them, but I had to step out on a limb here and throw this statement piece into the look to offset the monochrome. Let me know what you think in the comments if it works.
Timex has been a long-time partner of Greg’s Style Guide and their new Waterbury Chronograph timepiece is a strong piece in the rotation. This is actually my first chronograph watch and I really am hooked to not only the aesthetics but the functionality of it.
When I wasn't harassing my fiancé who was also in the city, but for work, I found myself with the daunting task of selecting the few spots I could dine at during my short time there. Spoiler alert, I went for Sylvain, Toups Meatery, and The Sazerac Bar. The full details of that food day will be available soon.
In between foodie stops, I would walk off the meals and take in the flair of New Orleans. The city is charming, lively, and both literally and figuratively full of warmth. I really need to give New Orleans a full week worth of taking in, because trust me, there is a lot to take in. See my escapades on my Instagram Story that’s linked below. Until next time NOLA, let the good times roll.
